“What I Wish I Knew About Cancer” by Marty Wilson… featuring: ME!

I previously mentioned that Marty Wilson was authoring a book, and that he interviewed me to be in it… well, today I got a surprise package delivered: A copy of the book!

It’s a weird and wonderful feeling to see my face in hardcopy like that. Partially embarrassing (I don’t even like photos of myself being taken, let alone published!), partially upsetting (reminding me of all the surgeries and pain), partially surreal (wait, that’s ME!) but entirely awesome.

I really hope people do buy this book, learn from all the amazingly powerful stories inside it, and take this stuff a bit more seriously. Well all know that i’m as guilty as anyone for dismissing how easy it is to get cancer these days.

No, I won’t take photos of the full pages… you can just buy the book ;)

I’m not 100% sure if the book is actually out yet. There’s no mention on the official page (http://whatiwishiknew.com/cancer/) about whether it is, and i’ve found 1 site that lists it as a pre-order and another that says it’s available now for purchase… and i’m a bit disappointed to not find it on Amazon as I honestly believe that whether you love them or hate them, Amazon is the way to get a book seen by the masses these days.

Buy the book!

  1. Hi Callan,
Thanks for your kind words mate, glad you like it. Just thought I’d pop by and say the book is available now from

    http://www.bigskypublishing.com.au/

but the (drum roll please) official launch is in July I believe. It’s weird that I don’t know exactly, but I’ve ‘given’ this book to Tour de Cure – the big bike ride that happens every year to raise money to cure cancer – and they are handling it all. I believe the ebook will be on Amazon some time soon too. (as will all my books, hopefully).

Just thought I’d give your readers the latest goss.

Thanks again for being part of it all. A good friend was given the news they had Non-Hodgkins this week. So it’s all incredibly real (and surreal) at the moment.

    Very plenty bestest
    Marty

    • Thanks Marty,

Yeah i’m definitely very impressed by the book. Have just read a few random stories today so far since i’m working, but plan on giving it a thorough read tonight. It’s some powerful stuff.

Good luck on the launch, i’ll do my best to spread the word :)

  2. Hi Callan,
Just found you via the lovely book.
I’ve just received my copy from Marty and it’s a joy to read.
Wishing you all the best and here’s to kicking Cancer’s ass
    Nerys
